SUPPORT AND INTERVENTIONS

Following any of the assessments listed above, it may be appropriate to offer intervention work with the child or young person, or their parents, school or other agency, to support and manage the difficulties identified.

  • standard session duration 60 minutes
  • emphasis on short-term goal-based interventions
  • collaborative working with parents, families and other agencies, e.g. schools, when appropriate
  • typically using cognitive-behavioural and solution-focused positive parenting approaches to tackle areas of difficulty identified in the assessment process
  • sessions may involve the child/young persons or their parents being seen on their own, or together, or a combination of both

The initial plan is usually for anything from 2-8 sessions. It is common for homework tasks to be set between sessions.
